Become a Beneficiary
Becoming a Beneficiary of the General Gumala Foundation is an important step in joining the Gumala community and continuing the legacy of our Banjima, Nyiyaparli and Yinhawangka Elders. As a Beneficiary, you are recognised as a Traditional Owner and included in the Foundation’s programs, support and decision‑making for generations to come.
The information below outlines what you need, how the process works, and what to expect along the way.
Who Can Apply
You may be eligible to become a Beneficiary if you are a Traditional Owner, who is connected to an original Gumala Trust signatory, from one of the three language groups:
- Banjima
- Nyiyaparli
- Yinhawangka

How to Apply
To begin, complete the Beneficiary Application Form and submit it to the Gumala Trust team.
You can lodge your form:
- By email: GIPL@gumalatrust.com
- In person: At the Gumala Trust office during business hours

What Happens Next
Your application goes through a structured review process to ensure accuracy, cultural integrity and proper governance. Each step is handled with care and respect.
- Submit your application
Send your completed and signed Beneficiary Application Form to GIPL via email or in person. - Initial review by the Gumala Trust
Our team checks that your form is complete and that all required information has been provided. - Cultural review by the Advisory Group of Traditional Owners
Your application is provided to the Advisory Group of Traditional Owners for cultural verification and recommendation. - Board decision
Your application is presented at the next GIPL Board Meeting for approval or refusal. - Outcome and registration
You are notified of the decision. If approved, your name is added to the Register of Traditional Owners and the Register of Beneficiaries.
How Long Does it Take?
Timeframes can vary depending on the scheduling of AGTO and Board meetings. The Gumala Trust will keep you updated as your application moves through each stage.
