Purchasing Cards
A new, optional way to access your support
Purchasing Cards are now active at Gumala. The Purchasing Card is optional and can be used for both your historic underpayment distribution and your annual distributions. This page explains how the card works, how to apply, and how to get help if you need it.
If you haven’t applied for a card yet, it’s not too late – applications remain open.

What this change means for you
Last year, 84% of Beneficiaries told us they wanted the option to use a Purchasing Card. Many people shared that they were looking for something safer and more dependable than cash — a tool that makes everyday purchases easier while still protecting the purpose of the funds and reducing Gumala’s administration costs.
Earlier this year, we confirmed that Purchasing Cards would become a new, optional way to receive support. Beneficiaries were asked to choose between a digital or physical card, and your preferences helped us prepare the rollout properly.
The rollout timeline remains the same:
- Applications opened in May
- Digital cards issued on 18 June
- Physical cards collected between 19–29 June
- Cards became active from 1 July 2026
Using a Purchasing Card is optional for both the historic underpayment and annual distributions. Other support options will continue to be available.
