Purchasing Cards will soon become a key option for Gumala Beneficiaries to receive support. Many of you have told us that a cashless card is safer, easier and more reliable, and the Gumala Trust wants to make this option available to everyone who would like to use it.
Applications for Purchasing Cards will open in May, and the program will begin on 1 July, as previously communicated.
As part of the rollout, we would like to know whether you prefer a digital card (via your mobile phone) or a physical card.
Please let us know your preference below by 7 April: Tell us your Purchasing Card preference.
Digital cards are usually faster, more secure and easier to manage, so we encourage Beneficiaries to consider choosing the digital option where possible.
Purchasing Cards must follow the rules of the Trust Deed, which means there will be limits on what can be purchased and where items can be bought. The cards will automatically block spending on alcohol, gambling, adult products, smoking, and the purchase of other gift cards. This helps ensure funds are used for approved purposes only. As with hardship payments, there will also be limits on the amount that can be spent using a Purchasing Card. These limits are set out by the Trust Deed, not the Gumala Trust.
Purchasing Cards include a small standard fee of $2 per month, which is the responsibility of the cardholder. If your card is ever lost and you need a replacement, a oneātime fee of $15 will apply for a new card. There are no other fees charged by the card provider.
Using a Purchasing Card is optional. If you choose not to use one, other support will continue to be available to you. Purchasing Cards will also be used as part of the historic underpayment process, giving Beneficiaries a simple and secure way to access approved supports.
